I can't figure out what this trail is called, but it's right beside Rifle's fish hatchery - I believe it's a riparian trail, and it's wonderful! It's convenient in its access and easily hiked. The trails aren't too long, but you could spend hours exploring it's natural splendor! As you walk on the trails, you're shaded by canopies of tall trees, and beside it babbles a little stream. There's a beautiful little waterfall that cascades down moss covered stones - great for picture taking! I love being able to walk through this trail and never see any trash!! It's great, and I hope we can continue to preserve this amazing spot!
Just north of this trail is Rifle Mountain Park - known for it's world class rock & ice climbing. Love hiking throught that canyon and watching all those rock climbers. It's perfect for "day trip" for people with children because you can stop at the Rifle Fish Hatchery (it's FREE!), then hike the Riparian Trail, explore Rifle Mountain Park, wade in the creek and finish with the natural ice cave (which I love to see in July, when it's hot outside, great way to cool down).
